Q: How does hosting a party work?
A: Send an email to email@example.com to let us know you are interested in hosting or attending an Art & Wine, Oh My! party. Kaie will contact you to set a date and time for your party. The party can be at your house, our studio or with one of our partnered venues (subject to availability), there is a 12 person minimum. If you want to host the party somewhere other than the above mentioned locations, you can make the arrangements, or let us know and we can help set it up.
The next step is for you to select a painting either from the current paintings on the Gallery page, or we can create one from an idea or image that you have.
You create your guest list and we will create a registration page for them to register and pre-pay online. Guests must preregister and pay prior to the event.
On the day of your party, instructor and assistant will arrive at the designated location an hour early to set up. We provide everything needed to paint, including canvases, table easels, plastic table covers to protect your furniture and carpets if necessary, paints, brushes, aprons, etc. You will provide table and chairs for your guests, and any refreshments and beverages you wish.
Afterwards, Instructor and Assistant will pack up our painting supplies while you and your guests visit and show off your new masterpieces.
Q: What days to you hold parties?
A: Parties can be held most week nights between 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Weekend parties can be held as early as 10:00 am, during the afternoon, or during the evening.
Q: How long are painting parties?
A: Times vary, depending on the complexity of the painting. A typical painting can be completed within 2 to 2 ½ hours. A more complex painting will take 30 minutes. Children’s parties are scheduled for about 1 ½ hour of painting.
Q: Do you ever have parties in public locations open to the general public?
A: Yes, Art & Wine, OH My! does hold painting parties in local restaurants and breweries. If you are interested in attending one of these events, kindly refer to our events page at www.artandwineohmy.com/events.
Q: Who pays for the guests to attend a painting party?
A: That’s up to you. Typically, the host makes the arrangements for the venue, guest list, food, beverages, and sends out the invitations. The guests then pre-register and pay for themselves at the time of registration.
If the host chooses to pay for her guests, special instructions will be sent on how to pre-register and pay for everyone.
Q: What should I wear?
A: We provide aprons, but paint can splatter and drip. Dress comfortably, but wear something that you won’t mind getting paint on, just in case. We use water based acrylic paints, but when it dries, it may not come out. If you care about it, don’t wear it. Let’s leave the fancy clothes, shoes & handbags for another occasion.
Q: I don’t know how to paint. I have no experience.
A: Art & Wine, Oh My! is a fun way to get together with your friends, coworkers or family. Experience is definitely not necessary. You will see a finished painting of the one you will be doing, in addition to watching the artist instructor paint each step along with you. You will be instructed step-by-step on creating your own masterpiece!
Q : What can I expect?
A: Our painting parties are relaxed and laid back. There’s no pressure to paint a specific way. You are free to add your own creativity to your painting. It’s all about having a good time! The host provides snacks and beverages which can be enjoyed before, during or after painting. At the end, you will have your very own work of art to take home and show off!
Q: When will my painting be dry? How will I get it home?
A: Acrylic paint dries very fast. It is usually dry to the touch within 30 minutes. Once it’s dry to the touch, you can carefully carry your painting to your car, and lay it face up in your trunk, or on the floor of your car.
Q: What time should the guests arrive?
A: Guests should arrive 15 to 30 minutes early so they can find their seat and get comfortable. We will try to start on time and do take frequent breaks to allow our painting layers to dry.
Q: Do you offer parties for children?
A: Yes, we do hold parties for children, and have paintings specifically geared toward kids and their interests. At least one adult needs to be present. Having a painting party for your child’s special day is a unique way to celebrate the occasion. The duration of a child’s party is typically 1 ½ hours, plus setup and cleanup.
Q: As a guest, do I need to sign up in advance?
A: Yes, pre-registration and payment is required before the date of the painting party. You will receive an email invitation with instructions on how to register and pay, with a link which will take you to the registration page for your specific party.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: A lot of preparation goes into arranging for a painting party at someone’s home, or specific venue. A date and time has been reserved just for you. Supplies have been ordered and purchased in advance. For these reasons, we DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS (unless we cancel the party). A minimum of 48 hour notice must be given to reschedule by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. We can credit your registration for another night. That credit must be used WITHIN 60 DAYS. No shows will NOT be credited for another day. This applies to both the Host and the guest. Thank you for understanding.
Q: Will you ever cancel a party?
A: We hope we never have to cancel a party. A session may be cancelled due to inclement weather or if there are less than five people registered. In the event that Art & Wine, Oh My! has to cancel an event, we will make every attempt to notify each registered guest in advance. Guests will be given the option of attending a rescheduled party, or we will gladly provide a refund.
Q: Can I bring a guest to a private party that is not on the original invitation?
A: That is entirely up to your host. If there is room for your additional guest, and your host allows it, go to the link from your invitation and have your guest pre-register and pay for the party. Registration and payment is allowed up to the time the party is scheduled to start, after which the registration site will not be available. Although a few extra “place settings” are packed for events, please ask your host to call Kaie at Art & Wine, Oh My! if the new, unexpected guest signs up the day of the party, to ensure enough canvases and supplies are brought to the event.
Q: There’s a painting that I really want to paint, but I don’t see one your website.
A: If there is a specific painting that you want to paint, or a theme you are interested in, let us know and we will either have the painting to show you, or will create one with your subject or theme in mind.
Q: Do you offer private painting classes? (Updated 12/01/15)
A: Yes! We can host your private party! We have a wonderful studio space to host a party just for you. It doesn’t even have to be a special occasion… maybe just a few friends getting together. For most dates and times, we need a minimum of 10 participants, for Friday and Saturday nights it’s a minimum of 12 participants, in order to hold the party and we can take up to 20.
Some points to know:
You can pick your painting and customize the colors, if you’d like. Just let us know.
We do offer custom paintings for private parties. Contact us for details.
Feel free to bring your own beverages and snacks. We can also work with you to have a catered party.
There is a 12 person minimum. You can pre-purchase the party or, if you want to have each person pay individually ($35 per person); we take a $105 non-refundable deposit which is fully applicable to your party (covers 3 guests for a regular painting party). If the required minimum guest’s number isn’t reached day of the event, the host is expected to cover the balance due to reach the minimum required.
Full refunds are given if the party is cancelled 14 days in advance. 7 days in advance, it’s a 50% refund of your deposit.
Q: Do you provide food, snacks or beverages?
A: No, Art & Wine, Oh My! does not provide food or snacks. However, the host may choose to provide food, snacks and/or beverages, or he or she may ask the guests to bring something to eat and/or drink to the party. We do offer a variety of non-alcoholic beverages and snacks available for purchase at the studio.
Q: Do you offer Team Building, Company Social Events & Client Appreciation?
A: Yes. This is a great way to encourage creativity of each individual while building relationships. Send an email to email@example.com and Kaie will call you to discuss your special festivities.
Q: Do you offer Fundraisers?
A: Yes, Art & Wine, Oh My! will work with you to raise money for your fundraiser. A portion of each of your guest’s purchase price will be returned to you toward your fundraiser. Please see our Paint It Forward page for details.
